So I'm having issues.. Christmas issues that is... did some research because of my never ending passion for truth!!! I want to know the orgins of Christmas. Well what I discovered has really bothered me. It's all bathed in Paganism!! from the Christmas tree to Santa... UGH.. how can I participate in a holiday that doesn't root itself in Christianity?? How can I celebrate my Lord's birth when really it isn't HIS birthday? So my endeavor continues. I have been listening to Christmas carols and thinking ugh... they are like worshiping Santa and even the Christmas tree.. " oh Christmas tree.. how wonderful are thee.. blah blah..".. The only tree that should get recognition is the one that Jesus was nailed to for our salvation!! And Santa.. Satan disguised is what I see. I almost feel that the Lord has lifted a veil from my eyes.. I see things differently. Why celebrate a holiday that totally exploits the sins that the Lord hates!!! 1) Lust... for material things.. 2) gluttony.. we all get fatter round the holidays, 3) lies.. yes we lie to our kids about a fictional character who in my opinion is worshiped and adored in the place where my Savior should be! UGh... Well then I've been thinking that 1) Christmas at least is the time of year where people are most generous... 2) it does get families a chance to see each other, 3) and I believe it's when people are saved the most. People that normally never go to church all make an appearance to either a play or a Christmas eve service.. so in that I am pleased. I guess I am just struggling within myself @ the hypocrisies of life. How can we just do what everyone else does.. Or just believe what has been passed down through the generations. I'm not one of those... " go along with the crowd".. people. And Praise God for that cuz that's how HE made me!! BUT my baby... hmm what I want to instill n him is that same fiery spirit.. Not to settle for what the word calls good... Search things out for himself. I want him to depend on the Holy spirit's discernment.. not even mine. I am going to have a tree, that will NOT be sung to or sung about.. I will buy him gifts but give them In the name of Jesus.. who is the ULTIMATE gift.. but I will not have him sit on the big fat red Santa.. "( Satan) impostors lap!! that I will not budge on!!! So anyway there it ... MY CHRISTMAS STORY!!

You're such a weido sometimes. Christmas is the absoulte best time of year. Here's a quick history lesson on Santa:
The Legend of St. Nicholas and Santa Claus!
The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas. It is believed that Nicholas was born sometime around 280 A.D. in Patara, near Myra in modern-day Turkey. Much admired for his piety and kindness, St. Nicholas became the subject of many legends. It is said that he gave away all of his inherited wealth and traveled the countryside helping the poor and sick. One of the best known of the St. Nicholas stories is that he saved three poor sisters from being sold into slavery or prostitution by their father by providing them with a dowry so that they could be married. Over the course of many years, Nicholas's popularity spread and he became known as the protector of children and sailors. His feast day is celebrated on the anniversary of his death, December 6. This was traditionally considered a lucky day to make large purchases or to get married. By the Renaissance, St. Nicholas was the most popular saint in Europe. Even after the Protestant Reformation, when the veneration of saints began to be discouraged, St. Nicholas maintained a positive reputation, especially in Holland.
Doesn't really sound like Satan to me. Sounds more like a figure socitey created (based on a very kind and generous person) to get young children excited about a certain time of year. Is that really so evil?
well to comment on your comment. I also read that" LEGENDARY".. account which you must have copied and pasted on my thing because it's exactly what I read word for word.. And we are not to worship, idoalize the dead... thus sayith the LORD!! So even if he was a good guy that doesn't mean that a holiday should be centered around him. Is there a Saint Theresa day? She was not a " legend" she was a real person who lived her whole life to the servant of the poor.. But I don't see babies sitting on her lap!!! Also I do love Christmas... but I am not " fooled" into thinking it's a " christian " holiday because frankly it just isn't!! And I still hate santa.. aka satan
Missy - I love Christmas and everything associated with it. Your blog is probably 100% true although I still will be celebrating Christmas full force - minus so much of the Santa stuff. We really dont do Santa so much. But what I love most about it is that you are you, you are real and you stand for what you believe in, no matter what grain it is going against. Those of us who know you, know that you are take it or leave it. I choose to take it! I love ya girl - you firey thing you! :) lol
I love how you said that Christian will get gifts in the name of Jesus, not Santa. We don't give Gerry gifts from Santa, but I never thought about it that way. I might have to borrow that when my fam does their usually questions this time of year.
It is so refreshing to have someone who is agreement with me on the true reason for the season.
I kinda have to agree with your brother...I was just watching that on TV how Santa was based on St. Nicholas (I believe Catholic based though) and was supposed to be a figure - not an idol.
I really like your passion you have...I love you!
Missy,
Please do not waste your wonderful energy this Holiday season on Santa. So tell me, do you not have any fond memories of Santa when you were very young? I know you are not struggling with your faith because of Santa and the commercialism of Christmas? Keep up your Holiday Cheer and Jesus will put it in perspective for You! Love ya girl!
